As the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its proposals gain momentum, it is timely to recall how the UCA contributed to the movement for reconciliation between First Nations peoples and all who have settled on this continent since 1788.

The forum will feature a number of contributors including Dr Deidre Palmer (immediate past President of the Assembly), Rev Dr Jonathan Barker and Tarlee Leondaris (Synod Covenanting Officer) who will share their experiences.

Sharing will include:
* how the UCA structurally pioneered a way of giving voice to Indigenous peoples by establishing the Uniting and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC), Covenanting with UAICC and then adding the new preamble to the UCA Constitution;
* the role of Congress in SA played in 1993 when gaining the contract to appoint the first two co-ordinators fro the Reconciliation Movement in SA;
* the hopes and dreams of Congress and Covenanting in SA for the advancement of reconciliation especially responding to the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

This event is organised by the UCA SA Historical Society. All welcome.
